Currently Listening
Praise Him...Live!
By The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
see related
I can always count on three things to give me a boost:

A. Out of Eden (More Than You Know)
B. Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (All)
C. Lena Park (her Gospel stuff, not the newer stuff)

Having a digital media library really softens the blows when I can find just the song I'm looking for.

I refuse to let the enemy steal my joy... may God protect me as I will inevitably come under more drama.

to do:
- become licensed
- become ordained

it sounds so simple but it's not!

Things that make me go "Grrrrrr"

I'm interested to see who people will side with: Bell, accused of participating in the fight, or Barker, the victim of the fight.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/09/04/bell.jena.six/index.html

I'm not saying that those who started and participated in the fight aren't wrong but you really need to look at what was going on and put yourself in the position of the group that feels attacked. Seriously, 12% of the population striking fear in 88% of a population? I think not. Go back to what sparked all of it--three kids who got off because some thought it was a prank. Go ahead and paint a swastika and see if they'll treat it as a prank.

If Bell was a participant and caused physical harm to Barker, then he should be punished for his actions. But 22 years and put on trial as an adult? Excuse me but I believe that punishment is way out of proportion. 4th DUI offense in Louisiana can get you 10-30 years but that's your FOURTH DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE which means that four times you have wrecklessly endangered you, your passengers and other motorists. That doesnt include time if you injure someone or kill someone. But this kid gets a possible 22 year sentence for being in a fight?

It's easy to see how I feel about this: it's ridiculous to sentence someone to that much time for a fight. Given the fact that there's tensions in the school over the three nooses, I don't blame him if he was aggrivated and wanted to fight. But that's if he was actually participating. If he wasn't, then it's a shame he's getting tangled into something he had no part in. But if he did throw some punches, he does deserve some penalty yet I can understand why he'd last out.

I love

I love Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel. This show came out of nowhere and became my favorite show. I love Heroes, the Unit, the Office, Prison Break and all of them but Mike Rowe is the funniest guy I've seen. I think the fact that he does what some of the unknowns of society do really appeals to me. He's an average guy's kinda guy. My all time favorite episode is the one where he's catching snakes and gets bit 39 times in the episode.

Cleaning Up is Hard to Do

It stinks. It really does.

I've learned three things:
A. I lost one of my ipods...
B. I lost a stack of books
C. I love these letter openers from Wachovia

One of the benefits of working for an academic institution, although certainly not enough to keep me working there for years and years and years, is getting all this free stuff. My school supplies are sponsored by the wonderful folks at Wachovia, ASA, Student Loan Express and CitiBank. I will miss the care packages from lendors like those awesome Mrs. Field's cookies and baskets from our hotels (like that bottle of champagne from the Brooklyn Marriott so many years ago). Sure, I could go out and buy them but why buy when I can get for free? I have no shame. You're reading about the guy that used to line his jacket with ziplock bags and put cereal in them during the cold nights at college.

Yup. Time to clean this up.
